Toyota announces new production lines in Poland
Japanese car company Toyota has announced plans to build new production lines for hybrid engines in Poland’s southwest to the tune of PLN 650 mln (EUR 150 mln).
Toyota’s investments in Poland to date exceed PLN 4 bln (EUR 900 mln), Deputy PM Mateusz Morawiecki said during a press conference on Thursday.
“Toyota is a world leader in hybrid engines and hybrid cars,” Morawiecki said, adding that he is happy that the technology will be transferred to Poland. “Above all, we are glad that specialised companies such as Toyota, a global automotive leader, will work with [Polish] highly qualified staff to produce new products,” he said.
“Toyota has already [operated in Poland] for many years and this is an entirely new investment.”
Morawiecki said that factors which helped secure the deal included Poland’s highly qualified workforce and planned reforms to trade schools.
The announcement follows confirmation earlier this month that Mercedes Benz parent company Daimler AG has signed a deal to build an engine factory, also in Poland’s southwest, worth more than PLN 2 bln (EUR 500 mln).
